These are currently works in progress which have been completed for academic degrees in psychology and will be revised if they are ever to be published in book form; you will also find copies of talks which have been delivered at various venues.


Masters thesis

This thesis was completed for Langegg International University, Switzerland, leading to a Masters of Arts in Psychology. The thesis, titled, Summoning the Courage, takes its title from the Swiss psychologist, Carl G. Jung. It is an integrative work, seeking to integrate the fields of Jungian psychology and the Baha'i spiritual teachings, as well as Islamic speculations on the 'world of imagination' (alam-al-mithal) with the field of neuroscience and neuropsychology. This work was an early work, and would need to be revised before being published. It has been included it on this site as a means of inviting readers who may be interested in these areas and are willing to offer constructive feedback for its improvement.

Another work also composed for the completion of the MA at Landegg is entitled "Elevation as a motif in Baha'i religious thought" which was submitted in consideration. It was submitted it for publication to a Baha'i academic journal but was rejected since the reviewers did not feel that "elevation" was suitable for considering as a 'motif'.

Doctoral dissertation

This is the work completed for a PhD in Applied Psychology from South China Normal University, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. The focus of this research was on Analytical Psychology and Chinese Culture. It was completed under Prof. Shen Heyong, the first mainland Chinese to be licensed as a Jungian Analyst. In this work, the Chinese character chéng, which has been translated as 'sincerity', 'integrity', and 31 other English terms are explored from Chinese philosophical literature and history . Chéng, as a philosophically rich term, is a representation of Chinese cultural psychology and in this dissertation, it is discussed from the point of view of analytical psychology.
